Visa: 23% increase in quarterly net profit

Visa has, for its second fiscal quarter net income up 23% to 881 million, a profit of $ 1.23 per share of Type A, slightly above the average forecast of analysts.

Net operating income from financial services group increased by almost 15% to $ 2.3 billion, supported by such data processing and international transactions.

The volume of payments increased 15% to 897 billion dollars and the number of transactions processed by VisaNet grew 13% to 12 billion.

Visa still expects revenue growth between 11% and 15% for its fiscal year 2010-2011 and an increase of over 20% of its earnings per share.

In addition, the Board of Directors has decided on a share buyback program of type A for a billion dollars, to be completed by April 20, 2012.
